Overview

Steer Sports supported the South Australian Athletic League (SAAL) to develop and secure funding for a project focused on strengthening volunteer capability, improving succession planning and supporting long-term organisational sustainability.

The Challenge

SAAL, like many community-based sporting organisations, faced challenges in maintaining a sustainable volunteer base, supporting capability development and planning for future leadership and workforce needs.

These challenges were impacting long-term organisational resilience and the ability to sustain participation and delivery.

The Approach

Steer Sports worked with SAAL to:

• Clarify key workforce and volunteer challenges

• Develop a structured sustainability initiative

• Align the project with South Australian Government priorities

• Prepare a funding submission through the Sector Support Program

• Design a delivery framework focused on capability, retention and succession

The Outcome

• Funding successfully secured through the South Australian Government Sector Support Program

• Establishment of a structured workforce and volunteer sustainability initiative
